Farewell to the seasons means no more than saying goodbye to the cycle of mother nature, of the perpetuum mobile of life and death. When we have to say farewell to the seasons , the world stiffens and everything stands still, we think about death. You would not say so immediately if you see all those soft, optimistic colors and almost cheerful actors on the stage of this painting. The artist has painted the deterioration process by beginning to paint in this series at first a proud, decorated vase and finally painting the ‘Farewell to the seasons’ which ends in a complete stand still.
